When: Thursday, December 15th, 2022, 2:00 PM PST
Where: Online (Zoom)

Santa Clara County's Board of Supervisors is meeting in committee to discuss the future of Ranked Choice Voting. This committee meeting will decide whether or not to introduce an RCV proposal to the full Board of Supervisors for a potential vote in early 2023. We need as many of our Santa Clara County area supporters as possible to attend this virtual meeting and be ready to speak on behalf of RCV when allowed.

If you live in Santa Clara County and you're looking for ways to help the RCV movement, this is how you can help:

1) Zoom or call in to the Finance and Government Operations Committee meeting on Thursday, Dec 15th at 2:00pm and offer public comment in support of RCV.
All you need to do is join this Zoom or call into the meeting at (669) 900-6833, Webinar ID: 977 6591 0175#.

You will be asked to enter an email address and name. The Clerk requests that you identify yourself
by name as this will be visible online and will be used to notify you that it is your turn to speak. When the Chairperson calls for the item on which you wish to speak, click on “raise hand.” The Clerk will activate and unmute speakers in turn. Speakers will be notified shortly before they are called to speak. (Call in attendees press *9 to request to speak, and *6 to unmute when prompted.)

2) Send a quick email (example below) with a message of support to the supervisors. Hearing from county residents is an important factor in committee members' consideration of RCV.

Written public comments may be submitted by email to [email protected].

Written comments will be distributed to the Committee as quickly as possible, however, please note that documents may take up to 24 hours to be posted to the agenda outline.

Subject: Please support ranked choice voting

As a Santa Clara County resident and supporter of Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), I urge you to support implementing RCV as decided by the voters under Measure F in 1998. We have waited nearly 25 years for the technology and other circumstances to enable implementation of this choice. RCV is now in use in dozens of other jurisdictions across the country, including many in California. We need it and want it in Santa Clara County.

RCV ensures majority winners in a single, high-turnout election, without the cost or the turnout problems associated with runoff elections. RCV is a simple voting upgrade that can deliver better representation and more fair electoral outcomes.

Please support RCV in the Finance and Government Operations Committee and in the full County Board.
